Raploch Community Credit Union

“Do all of your saving and borrowing where you are one of the owners”

What is a credit union

A credit union is a co - operative financial organisation owned and operated on a not for profit basis by its members according to democratic principles.

Its purpose is to encourage savings, to use pooled funds to make loans and to provide other related services to members and their families.

How can I join the Credit Union?

To join a Credit Union you must qualify for membership on the basis of sharing a mutual link with other members. This link is called the common bond and is usually either living in the same community or working for the same employer as your fellow members.

How does a credit union work?

Savings

Credit Unions encourage their members to save with them. They do this by operating friendly and accessible collection points at times and in places suitable and convenient for their members.

Loans

Loans are granted to members on the basis of their savings record, capacity to repay and according to the loans policy decided by the Board of Directors. Loan requests are assessed and approved by the Credit Committee and members’ details are kept strictly confidential.
